The Cobalt Alloy MP35N® Wire is an engineering marvel, boasting a sophisticated multi-phase composition of Nickel, Cobalt, Chromium, and Molybdenum. This unique blend gifts the alloy with an extraordinary spectrum of attributes including ultra-high strength, remarkable toughness, exceptional biocompatibility, and superior resistance to corrosion. Meticulously crafted through vacuum induction melting and vacuum arc re-melting (VIM-VAR), followed by precise work hardening and aging processes, the alloy achieves impressive hardness levels of 55-60 Rockwell C, reaching strength thresholds of 260-300KSI.

Owing to this remarkable amalgamation of characteristics, MP35N® finds itself indispensable across diverse sectors such as oil and gas, aerospace, and the medical field. Its prowess extends to functioning seamlessly at cryogenic temperatures without succumbing to brittleness and retaining its formidable properties at elevated temperatures up to 600°F. This makes it an ideal choice for demanding applications, including medical implants and orthodontic or prosthetic devices.

MP35N® is a champion against corrosion, adept at withstanding the harsh effects of most mineral acids, hydrogen sulfide, and seawater environments. It superbly resists stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen embrittlement, even while maintaining high strength levels. The NACE MR0175 standard permits a hardness of up to 51 HRC for materials that have undergone specific work strengthening and aging processes outlined in the accompanying table.

Aircraft Materials adeptly provides MP35N® in meticulously certified round bars conforming to AMS 5844 (ranging from 0.270" to 1.520" in diameter) or NACE MR0175 (ranging from 0.5" to 2.5" in diameter). Additionally, sheet, strip, and plate products tailored for medical applications are available, ensuring the highest quality standards for specialized needs.
